June issue

Despite the phone calls and urgent letters, I only received yesterday evening, from Paillart, the first eight posters ("A stain on the coat of arms" and "Cimetière marin").
I sent yesterday at 6 p.m. to Mrs. Sainte-Marie Perrin the manuscript of "a stain on the coat of arms" and a set of proofs. This morning a lieutenant comes to inform Mr. Gallimard that Mrs. Sainte-Marie Perrin is in Rome, and will not be able to correct the proofs. Here I am obliged to make all the corrections without a manuscript (I had started well, but I intended to confront them with the corrections of Mrs. S-M P.). Mrs. S-M P., whom I had informed on May 3 of the upcoming sending of the tests, could have written to me, or informed me earlier.

I will return these eight corrected cupboards to Paillart tomorrow. At the same time I will send him the review of the magazines, which includes:

  1. Various Dada magazines.
  2. Objections to Dadaism... (the Opinion, The Critical Review, The Critical Notebook)
  3. “The Seasons” by Francis Reeves.
  4. The 1st episode of “Porul” by Muselli
  5. Past reviews: the "Criailleries" of Ramon Gomez de la Cerna, by V. Larbaud (which complete his column), the two mementos, and the table of contents, which are completed; (except page numbers)

These eight cupboards give me a difference of 6 pages less on the planned calibration.
