Portrait of Germaine Paulhan by Marie Laurencin

Germaine Paulhan

Germaine Paulhan, born Germaine Dauptain, was Jean Paulhan's second wife. She helped him in his work at the NRf from 1920 onward and played a central role in serving writers, sometimes forwarding to other journals manuscripts rejected by the NRf. Correspondence up to 1933, the year of their marriage, mentions (or is addressed to) Madame Pascal, her name from a first marriage.
