René Martin-Guelliot to Jean Paulhan, 1913, 1

23.1.1913

My dear friend,

I don't think there were any questions to answer in your penultimate letter and the previous one. I just want to thank you all and move on to the last one. First of all, I apologize for the delay: fantastic work on the 90-page issue: it doesn't seem like anything and it's terrible; I learned the necessary lesson from it regarding the impossibility of double numbers, without very special help. Hence the printing errors! I was hampered by the circumstances too: called to Reims in a hurry for the illness of my wife's grandmother, then the bereavement, business and occupations of all kinds...! Which led me to the next issue. I am writing to you while it is in print.
Thank you for the information for the translation: do we have anything to do between now and acceptance. Thank you for the information in the [...]: I will put the erratum in the yellow pages of this issue: the same for the corrections.

A. van Gennep announced to me his departure for the University of Neuchatel (Switzerland): that's where [...] the Spectator and he doesn't return to me...

Jean Florence wrote his thesis on the philosopher or mystic or humorist (a bit of all 3) Hamann and on "Starck and the quarrel of crypto-Catholicism in Germany 1785-89", he sent me the latter.

You must have, Pareau told me, received an N.R.F, probably the one in January; but not the one in December, I will ask him.
I received a very kind word from Meillet in response to my thanks for [the bulletin of] the Sté de L[inguist]ique.

Our best wishes, although a little late, for you and Mrs. Jean Paulhan.

Yours sincerely,
R.M.G.

If you have a note I would like to receive it around February 8th.
