Portrait de Antonin Artaud

Antonin Artaud

ARTAUD LE VAILLANT

The least that must be said of Artaud is that he never admitted defeat. It is because the erosion of thought, the collapse of the soul, ruin and madness itself rejected him more surely to this formidable inner station, which it is for us all to mature – to this dead, but radiant point, where the rotten being gathers his virtues [illegible]. I don't know which emperor said that there are three suns, of which only the first has appeared. I never doubted that Antonin Artaud would see the second as he wished.

Jean Paulhan

Antonin Artaud - To put an end to the judgment of God
Written and recorded in 1947 by Antonin Artaud, To end the judgment of God, is undoubtedly, until now, the most extreme radio event ever conceived. An abysmal rhythmic undertaking, a magnificent text written for an erupting voice. This extraordinary work was banned for some time, but the worst outrage that could be done to it was oblivion. However, thanks to the sound editions André Dimanche Antonin Artaud's radio recordings have been saved from oblivion. Listening to To end the judgment of God is preceded by a presentation of Antonin Artaud by Roger Vitrac.
