Paulhan the just
Frédéric BadréEditor-in-chief then director of La Nouvelle Revue Française, from 1920 until 1940, Jean Paulhan was a resistance fighter from the start, founder of French Letters, Editions de Minuit, the National Committee of Writers. From 1953, he directed the Nouvelle NRf. until his death. It's say that he was at the center of literary and intellectual life for more than half a century. “Eminence grise” of letters, he defended the first texts of Camus, Malraux, Sartre, etc. He is also the author of a critical work, stories and pamphlets. This book, the first dedicated to Paulhan for more than thirty years, endeavored to rediscover the unity of a character "unique in his species, inimitable as well as irreplaceable", wrote Jouhandeau.
