Written around 1912, upon his return from Madagascar, it is one of Paulhan's first texts, halfway between an ethnological essay and a fictional story. And we understand that these Merinas, who demonstrate such great modesty, not for their lovemaking, but for their meals, must have seduced the already paradoxical mind of Paulhan. This text, unavailable for several years, does not appear in the Complete Works.
